Less is More, do you agree?
Apr 5th, 2009 by dealadvisor

We have gotten a few comments asking why we show so few options on the main screen of the Vegas Deal Advisor site . I want to take a moment to mention the motivation is for us to make your choice easier by subscribing to a “Less is More” concept. We believe that the choices in travel have gotten too complex and people welcome a service that can focus them on a few great choices. Psychologist Barry Schwartz provides this really insightful perspective about how our world has gotten too complex and the number of choices available can paralyze us.  See this version of one of his talks online . We believe Barry and want to simplify things for you when you choose a hotel in Las Vegas. Vegas Deal Advisor aims to be your trusted waiter giving you the scoop on what are the best items available on today’s Las Vegas Hotel menu. We’d like to hear from you. Do you think we should show more options by default or even reduce it further. Please let us know what you think!

Las Vegas Hotel Rates Update
Mar 15th, 2009 by dealadvisor

One question we often get is when to travel to find the lowest prices in Las Vegas. As a huge leisure destination, Las Vegas tends to offer lower rates during mid-week and higher ones on the Weekends. Whenever feasible, it’s recommended to try to plan a mid-week escape to get the absolute best deals on hotels and avoid the crowds.
If you need to travel on the Weekend, the weekend of April 10th, 2009 and the weekend of May 8th are currently offering the best bargains on four or five star properties.
If you can travel on weekdays, you will find great deals on almost every week thru the end of August 2009. The one exception is the week of April 20, 2009 where rates are quite a bit higher because of the National Association of Broadcasters convention.
In any case, you can always find which top rated hotels are providing the relative best value for dollar on your dates by using the value search capabilities of Vegas Deal Advisor.

Best of Luck!

P.S. Here is a chart of the average Rates for coming Weekends.

One of the great things about a trip to Las Vegas is there are so many unique Shows to see every night of the week. One example that will bring a smile to your face and especially appeal to those of us with more life experience is the Donny and Marie Show at the Flamingo Show Room in Las Vegas. This Youtube video of the Donny & Marie Show should prime your memory for the type of entertainment you will enjoy. Dynamic Deal Ratings are Here!
Mar 12th, 2009 by dealadvisor

I am really excited today to announce the arrival of dynamic deal rating calculations on Vegas Deal Advisor.  Now, you can put in your specific travel dates and see which of the top-rated hotels have the highest deal value ratings for your specific dates of travel. The rating process considers the overall rating of the hotel and then examines the specific rates available for of each top rated hotel on the dates you want to travel and compares them to historical pricing and the prices of the peer hotels. The result is a true picture of the top consumer rated hotels offering you the best value for your dollar in Las Vegas on your specific dates. Please be patient when you use this new feature since it does need to do a few calculations and may take few seconds to generate your results.   We do not yet have a timer or progress bar but will implement that soon.

As I said, the team is super excited about bringing you this functionality. Please try it out, book a hotel in Vegas and let us know what you think!

Happy Shopping!

Vegas Deal Advisor Launch
Feb 27th, 2009 by dealadvisor

Welcome to our Blog!

I started Vegas Deal Advisor to create a  place where travelers could have an unbiased resource to find the best quality accommodations at the best possible price.  There is a lot of marketing dollars spent promoting deals on the web which primarily focus on a low price points in the market which are often not available or even desirable.  Savvy travelers know that the “best deal” is not usually the lowest price. For example, most people would agree that an $89 rate at a 5 Star hotel rated in the top 10 by consumers is a much better deal than a $69 a night 3 star hotel which has mediocre consumer reviews.  First and foremost, people want to stay at great place where they will have a great or at least very comfortable experience.  This is why savvy travelers have learned to search on sites like TripAdvisor first to find the top quality hotels and then to search for the best prices on these top hotels before making a decision.

With  Vegas Deal Advisor, our aim is to simplify and improve that whole process to pre-filter for you the best quality hotels offering the best relative prices for your exact trip dates.  Please visit our site, read the FAQs (if you have time), and provide any comments on how we should simplify, improve or enhance it.

We have several enhancements planned over the coming months and appreciate any and all feedback to help us make the best improvements to better serve you.
