If you follow tennis, you know that the most exciting event of the year is the US OPEN at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. The qualifying tournament begins August 24th with the main tournament starting on August 31st culminating in the Men’s finals on September 13. The USTA has already outlined the schedule of play. If you ask anyone who has gone to the US OPEN, they will tell you what a fantastic experience it is to be able to see the absolute best tennis in the best venue while taking in New York City. Its best to plan several days so you can find time to enjoy some shows and tourism in New York City while getting chance to experience both day and night sessions at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Also, if you want to see great players up close without spending a fortune on tickets, its best to go early in the tournament so you can get a day pass and see great play on the many outside courts.
Andy Roddick had a tough loss tonight to Del Portro the young Argentine for the second straight week in a USOPEN series even in Montreal. However, he is still my pick to run the table this year at the OPEN.
The only down side of the US OPEN is that hotel accommodation is usually extremely expensive. However, this year there are some of the lowest prices we have ever seen for decent accommodations. For example, the Holiday Inn Midtown, a modest 3 star which has decent ratings and reviews such as this on TripAdvisor has rates under $140 per night. They are right near many attractions and a convenient ride on the 7 subway to the USOPEN tennis site.
You can search for all the best hotel deals and Last Minute Packages at NYCDealAdvisor.com .
I will update you soon about more deals and tips for attending the US OPEN.

The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is currently offering a fantastic deal which is a discount of over 40% over their lowest rates. You can get a room at the Orleans Hotel and Casino midweek for only $19 per night. This off-strip property is ranked in the top 10% by TripAdvisor based on over 1300 different reviews and is especially strongly rated for families with children travelling to Vegas. That’s a pretty strong endorsement and you can’t beat this rate. Here is a recent review pulled directly from the TripAdvisor site: “I had a wonderful time staying at The Orleans Hotel with my extended family including 5 kids under the age of seven. They had a ball. The food choices were great. We bowled with all the kids, went to the arcade, played in the kids pool, and even let them go to the secure “kids only” play area while we went to gamble. There is a movie theater, and the circus was in the building. What more can you ask for. The buffet was also great. We also received coupons upon arriving and used most of them for food and entertaining. Another plus, we did not have to pay for parking”

If you are traveling to Las Vegas within the next 3 weeks, you can often find an amazing discount by purchasing a Last Minute Package on VegasDealAdvisor.com . These discounts are provided to us by partner airlines to help move their otherwise unfilled seats instead of sharply reducing their published air price. You can find similar great deals on sites like hotwire and priceline. However, there are a couple clear advantages of booking your last minute package to Las Vegas with Vegas Deal Advisor: #1 You will always know the exact flights and hotel before you make your purchase and you can cross check the Las Vegas hotel on Yelp or TripAdvisor to confirm what other travellers are saying about the hotel before you book it. There is no mystery flight with strange connections to worry about. #2 You will earn frequent flyer points on your flights! Other sites offering lastminute specials often do not allow you to earn those points. #3 VegasDealAdvisor has terrific last minute rates for Flight plus Car so even if you don’t need a hotel we can often get you there with a vehicle to drive around for less than the cost of an expensive last minute flight alone would be.

In our last post, we discussed a bit about package pricing and showed you some of the top tripadvisor consumer rated hotels that offer a significant discount when you buy your flight and hotel together for your trip to Las Vegas. We also mentioned that the air portion is usually not discounted too much for packages to Las Vegas because the published stand alone air fares are already quite low. However, there is one exception to this where you can find a terrific deal. If you are traveling to Las Vegas within the next 3 weeks, you can sometimes find an amazing discount by purchasing a Last Minute Package. These discounts are provided to us by airlines to help move their otherwise unused seats in cases where they do not want to discount the basic stand alone air price. The discount for these last minute packages to las vegas can be so significant that the cost of your Flight and Hotel to Las Vegas could be less than the price of buying the airline ticket alone. This will give you a essentially a free hotel stay plus some extra money in your pocket!
Here’s one example. If you were in Chicago and wanted a lastminute getaway with non-stop flights for 2 nights to Vegas. It would cost you $495 per person for the flights alone. However, with a last minute deal on vegasdealadvisor, you could fly non-stop and stay at the 5 star venetian for 2 nights for only $519 per person!
Even more remarkable, our last minute packages to Las Vegas do not require a hotel. You can get one of these great package rates by just booking your flight with a rental car which always comes in handy in Vegas.
Online travel agents like Expedia, Orbitz and Travelocity claim that you can save hundreds of dollars by buying a flight and hotel together and have been talking loudly about this for some time. The truth is you really can sometimes get a better deal when you buy flight and hotel together but certainly not all the time. This post will explain to you how those Hotel + Flight deals really work and give you some advice on which Las Vegas hotels offer the best flight plus hotel deals in Las Vegas.
Airlines and hotels often have extra capacity that they would like to fill but to do not want to dilute their revenue by reducing their prices across the board. One key tool for selling this capacity is offering “package only rates” which are given to specific agents and only allowed when the flight or hotel is used as part of a package. When you see a really good flight + hotel package rate, it could be because either the hotel, the airline or BOTH have offered the agent a special package rate For Las Vegas, public air fares tend to be very competitive so there are not that many package disocunted air fares in the market. However, there are several hotels who do offer big discounts with a package which are provided to us at VegasDealAdvisor .
Based on a recent survey of rates in the market, here are the top consumer rated hotels in Las Vegas where you can expect to find a big savings when you book your flight and hotel together.
